Specializations We Offer

Brainspotting

Brainspotting uses a person’s visual field to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain, the area of the brain responsible for motion, consciousness, emotions, and learning. In addition to trauma, this new and cutting-edge therapy treats anxiety, attachment issues, substance use, posttraumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, depression, and other concerns.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) uses eye, or hand movement, or tapping with talking, to achieve emotional release and to gain new ways of reacting to what has occurred. EMDR is used to help individuals recover from strong emotional reactions to difficult things (traumas) that have happened in their lives.

Gottman Couples Therapy

Gottman Couples Therapy is a research-based approach that begins with a detailed assessment to pinpoint specific problem areas. The resulting comprehensive report offers specific interventions that the counselor uses to coach partners toward lasting results. In Gottman therapy couples learn to increase their positive connection by gaining tools to communicate, resolve conflict, enrich their friendship, and create lasting meaning.

Play Therapy

Play is to children what verbalization is to adults. Our trained play therapists use the child’s natural language of play to teach new coping strategies, redirect inappropriate behaviors, and help a child heal from trauma. The child works through experiences by creating model situations to master reality through planning and experimentation. “Fish swim, birds fly, children play.”  - Dr. Garry Landreth

Sandplay & Sand Tray Therapy

In sand tray therapy, clients express their understanding of themselves, their world, and their problems using miniatures and figurines.  The process allows for the safety of distance, as individuals from children to adults experience resolution and healing by creating and manipulating their world. Research shows that sand tray therapy can help increase emotional expression while reducing the psychological distress that may come from discussing traumatic events or experiences.
